Halloween 2009 - We ride Single file...To hide our numbers.

This year my son wanted to be a Tusken Raider. So we went all out. Everythign but my bandoliers was homemade. I think we did all right.  The girls were a butterfly and tinker bell. They turned out well too. In fact, maybe the misses will wear her hooker boots one night. HA!

At the Ky Horse park Campout, I placed 2nd (was beat by a store bought hulk hogan costume.), Xander was second as well (beat by an astronaut.) Unfortunatly the girls did not win at all. MeeMaw won third for her "Frankie's Girl" costume.

Here they are:

They ride single file to hide their numbers.

XanderTusken.gifWell here it is, this is my son's costume for this year. A Tusken Raider. Everything is hand made from the mask to the bandolier. I used things like pvc pipe, cigarette boxes filled with spray foam to make them not collapse, markers, and electrical twist connectors. Stay tuned for instruction on what I used and how I created each piece. The only things left to complete are the hands and all I need for that are some glvoes that I cannot seem to find. Also we will dirty up the robes by tea dying, using pastel chalk, and some rit dye thrown on it for a "dried blood splatter" effect.  Some pieces are simple like the boot while others are a little harder. Enjoy!

Halloween 2008 - How long have you had those droids?

This year we were a few different things and there was no real theme for xander and myself. This was not by choice but because my costume (lego Darth Vader) did not turn out that well. With everything else going on I did not have the time and could not get the legs the way I wanted to so I skipped it and wore my Viking items from my SCA. Xander was a Stormtrooper. The costume was made using about $10 of craft foam. Details on how I made the costume to come soon.

This year the girls were penguins. The penguins were from Simplicity pattern # 3639. They were made in fleece and were quite warm. However they were oh so cute.

The girls were a crowd favorite at the Horse Park. Xander placed 3rd with his costume and I placed 2nd.

Meemaw and Pap were a witch and monster.

Halloween 2007 - Tic Tok, Hook's afraid of an old dead crock!

For Halloween 2007 - Xander wanted to be Captain Hook.

For me he wanted me to be Mr Smee at first, then low and behold at the last minute he decided I needed to be Peter Pan. Yes I even wore bright green tights.

The Captain Hook costume was a combination of different patterns and custom items. The hat was custom made with fabric, floral wire and some doll hair sewn in to the hat. For me this is one of my best costumes to date. I LOVE this costume. For his trick-or-treat bag I did an applique of the croc looking up at him waiting for the right time to take a bite. That year he won second place.  I think he got jipped.

AnnaMarie was Tinkerbell. This was made using simplicty pattern #?.

Halloween 2006 - Pirates - ARRRRRRR Matey!

Here are our costumes for halloween 2006. This year we decided to be pirates and went all out as you can tell.

Xander's costume and mine were custom made. his was easier as I had him as a model to slope and drape to make patterns. Mine I was not that lucky and it took 3 tries on the pattern before I got the coat right. The good news is that I actually won a National MySpace costume contest that year (sponsored by ABC Family) for it. I was able to take my winning prize, sell it and pay for my costume.  AnnaMarie was a witch, that costume was made by her MeeMaw and looked awesome.

Here are some pics for your enjoyment:
